You do not need an account. On the home page, click Create QR code, pick a type (URL, vCard, Wi-Fi, file, event, text and more) and enter your content — the preview updates as you type. A free account adds saving, later changes and scan statistics.

Static QR codes contain the content directly in the image and cannot be changed once printed – ideal for vCards or WiFi access. Dynamic QR codes point to a short QRown URL that you can redirect to a new target at any time. Only dynamic QR codes deliver scan statistics.

URL, vCard, Wi-Fi access, e-mail, SMS, WhatsApp, phone, location, event, file upload (PDF, images, Word, text and more), payment links, app store links with iOS/Android routing, social media profiles and plain text.

No. The platform is intentionally designed so you can create your first QR code in under 2 minutes without prior knowledge. For advanced users there are also bulk upload and custom branding.

For dynamic QR codes you can change content and target at any time without having to reprint the QR code. Static QR codes cannot be changed afterwards – we always recommend dynamic QR codes for printed materials.

Yes. In the editor you can upload your logo (PNG/SVG, max. 5 MB) and freely choose foreground and background color. Make sure there is sufficient contrast (recommendation: dark pattern on light background) and limit the logo to max. 25 % of the QR code area to maintain readability.

You can export all QR codes in the following formats: PNG (for web and office), JPG (small file size), SVG (lossless scalable, for print) and PDF (print-ready, vectorised). Resolutions up to 4000 × 4000 pixels are possible.

Rule of thumb: The QR code should be at least 2 × 2 cm at a reading distance of 30 cm. For posters: reading distance in cm × 0.1 = minimum size. Example: 5 m distance → 50 cm QR code. Also keep at least 4 modules of "white quiet zone" around the code.

Test before each print run with at least three different smartphones (iOS and Android) and different lighting conditions. Pay particular attention to whether the scan works with the native camera app – third-party scanners are often more tolerant than the standard apps.

For every dynamic QR code: scans over time, returning and new scanners, device type and browser, location at country and city level (anonymised) and breakdowns by time of day. The scope depends on your plan — see the pricing page for what is included where. Everything can be exported as CSV and JSON.

No. The IP address is shortened before it is stored (the last block is dropped), so it can no longer be traced to a person. To tell returning scanners from new ones, an additional irreversible check value is derived. Location is stored at city level only. Individual people cannot be identified from this.

Yes. The statistics area has buttons for CSV and JSON, and you choose the period yourself. Which plans include the export is listed on the pricing page.

A scan shows up in your figures within seconds once you reload the report. A live view that updates without reloading is part of the higher plans — see the pricing page.

Click your profile picture at the top right → ProfileChange password. For security reasons, you must first enter your current password. We recommend a password with at least 12 characters.

Under Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account you type „DELETE” to confirm plus (if set) your current password. Deletion then happens immediately and irrevocably — there is no waiting period. Important: Active QR codes will no longer work after that.

All personal data (name, email, profile), QR codes and statistics are completely deleted. For legal reasons we retain billing data for the statutory retention period of 10 years (Swiss CO Art. 958f). This data is anonymized and no longer linked to you.

There is a permanently free plan and several paid tiers. They differ in the number of dynamic QR codes and in the features included. Current prices and limits are on the pricing page — in your currency and always up to date.

Yes, both. When upgrading, the difference is billed pro rata and you immediately get access to the new features. When downgrading, you keep the higher plan until the end of the current billing period. QR codes above the new limit are paused but not deleted.

Under Billing you can manage and cancel your subscription at any time — either in the customer portal or by switching to the free plan. There is no minimum term. You keep all paid features until the end of the current period.

Yes. Existing dynamic QR codes remain active and scannable. You only lose paid features such as advanced statistics and creating new QR codes above the Free limit. Static QR codes work independently of the account anyway.

We accept credit card and PayPal directly online, processed via our payment provider Stripe. Depending on your country, additional methods such as TWINT or SEPA direct debit may also be available.

Check in order: (1) Is the code large enough? (min. 2 × 2 cm at 30 cm distance). (2) Enough contrast between foreground and background? (3) Is the "quiet zone" all around clear (min. 4 modules white)? (4) Is the code printed mirrored or skewed? (5) Does the print material reflect strongly? If all that fits – send us a message with the QR code ID.

Static QR codes (vCard, WiFi, text) work completely offline. Dynamic QR codes are redirected via our servers – this requires an internet connection when scanning. After successful redirection, the content of the target page may be cached offline.

QRown is developed and hosted in Switzerland. The servers are with Infomaniak in Switzerland, billing is in Swiss francs with Swiss VAT, and support is available in German, French and Italian. Which other providers process data - for payments, for example - is set out openly in our privacy policy.

All data (account, QR codes, statistics) is stored exclusively in data centers in Switzerland and the EU. There is no data transfer to third countries. Backups are encrypted and also stored in the EU.

Yes, fully. We meet all requirements of the EU GDPR and Swiss DSG: (1) data minimization (no personal scanner data), (2) EU/CH hosting, (3) Data Processing Agreement (DPA) on request, (4) right to information, correction and deletion via the profile, (5) data protection officer. Details in our privacy policy.

No, and this is by design. We collect no personal data from the people who scan your QR code – this would not be permitted under GDPR without their consent. You see aggregated statistics (number, device type, approximate location), but no individual persons.
