General Terms and Conditions
Terms of use for the QRown QR code service, operated by QRown.
Quick navigation
1. Scope
These General Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the QR code generator service QRown (the "Service"), provided by QRown (the "Provider").
By registering a user account or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, you may not use the Service.
Terms of the user that deviate from these are not recognised unless the Provider expressly agrees to them in writing.
2. Description of the service
QRown provides a web-based platform with the following main features:
- Creation of static and dynamic QR codes (URL, text, vCard, Wi-Fi and more)
- Customisation of design, colours, logo and frames
- Scan tracking and analytics for dynamic QR codes
- Management, organisation and bulk operations
- Editing the content of dynamic QR codes later without reprinting
- Multiple languages (DE, EN, FR, IT, ES) and prices in several currencies
The range of features depends on the plan you choose, as set out on the current pricing page. The Provider reserves the right to develop and extend the Service.
3. Registration and user account
3.1 Creating an account
The user undertakes:
- to be at least 16 years old or to have the consent of a parent or guardian
- to provide truthful and complete information
- to create only one account per person (exception: team and company accounts)
3.2 Account security
You must keep your access credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account. Please inform us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Subscriptions and payments
4.1 Plans
QRown offers a free plan as well as paid plans with a wider range of features. Current prices and conditions can be found on the pricing page.
4.2 Payment
- Billing monthly or annually in advance, depending on the cycle you choose
- Payment via Stripe using the payment methods shown at checkout (e.g. credit card; further methods depending on country)
- Customers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein: prices include 8.1% Swiss VAT.
- Customers abroad: no Swiss VAT (place-of-supply rule). For business customers in the EU with a valid VAT identification number the reverse charge procedure applies
- The invoice is sent automatically by email and can be downloaded in the customer area
4.3 Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period you chose unless they are cancelled before the current period ends. You can cancel at any time under Billing → Payment methods and invoices (Stripe customer portal) or at Cancel subscription.
4.4 Refunds
As a rule there is no pro-rata refund for periods already paid for if you cancel early. Where technical outages are the Provider's responsibility (availability target under clause 7), a pro-rata discount may be granted in individual cases. The right of withdrawal for consumers habitually resident in the EU or EEA (clause 4.5) remains unaffected.
4.5 Right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU/EEA
Consumers habitually resident in a member state of the EU or EEA have the following statutory right of withdrawal when taking out a paid subscription:
Information on the right of withdrawal
Right of withdrawal: You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract was concluded. To exercise your right of withdrawal you must inform us (QRown, Flugbrunnen 430, 3065 Bolligen, Schweiz, email: info@qrown.io) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of an unambiguous statement (for example by email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, although this is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline it is sufficient that you send your communication concerning the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal: If you withdraw from this contract we shall reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw. We will use the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction; in no event will you be charged any fees as a result of the reimbursement.
Early expiry and compensation for value: If you requested that the service begin during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been provided until you communicated your withdrawal, compared with the full coverage of the contract. The right of withdrawal expires once we have fully provided the service, where performance began only after you gave your express consent and acknowledged that you would lose your right of withdrawal once the contract had been fully performed.
Model withdrawal form
(If you wish to withdraw from the contract, please complete this form and return it to us.)

Credits and discounts
Credits arising from discount or referral promotions (e.g. referral bonuses) are applied exclusively against future subscription invoices. Payout, cash payment, or refund transfer of these credits is excluded.
5. Rights of use
5.1 Licence
The Provider grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service within the scope of these Terms and the plan you have chosen.
5.2 Ownership of QR codes
You retain all rights to the content of your QR codes. You may use, print and distribute the generated QR code graphics commercially and privately without restriction. What happens to dynamic redirects when a subscription is cancelled or the account is deleted is governed by sections 10.3 and 10.4. Static QR codes contain their content themselves and work independently of the account.
5.3 Responsibility for content
You are solely responsible for the content you embed in QR codes or distribute through them. You warrant that you hold all necessary rights and do not infringe the rights of third parties.
5.4 Your visitors’ data (forms and reviews)
If you use contact forms or review pages, you are the controller of the personal data collected there within the meaning of data protection law. You inform your visitors about the processing in your own privacy policy, only request data you need, collect sensitive personal data (e.g. health data) only with a legal basis, and delete submissions as soon as you no longer need them. QRown processes this data exclusively on your behalf and according to your instructions as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR, Art. 9 Swiss FADP); our privacy policy applies in addition. Business customers can request a data processing agreement (DPA).
5.5 Loyalty cards
If you offer a loyalty card, you alone are obliged towards your customers to honour the promised rewards and you set the terms. You keep your staff’s PINs secret and change them if they may have become known. QRown only provides the technology and is not liable for rewards, wrongly issued stamps or the discontinuation of a loyalty programme; section 5.4 applies accordingly to your customers’ data.
5.6 Teams
If your plan includes teams, you can invite other people to your account. Members act in your account and on your behalf; what they create belongs to your account and counts towards your plan. You are responsible for whom you invite, which role you assign and for members complying with these terms. If your plan no longer includes teams, members lose access; your content is kept. Members can leave a team at any time.
API and webhooks
The API and webhooks are available in the plans that include them according to the developer page (qrown.io/developers.php), with the limits stated there. API keys must be kept confidential; you are responsible for requests made with your key. We may block keys and disable webhooks if they are misused, endanger security or are repeatedly unreachable. We only extend version 1 of the interface in a backward-compatible way; fundamental changes will be announced as a new version.
6. Prohibited use
The following uses are prohibited:
- Illegal activities or distribution of illegal content
- Harassing, insulting, defamatory or discriminatory content
- Spam, unsolicited advertising, phishing campaigns
- Distribution of malware, viruses or harmful code
- Infringement of copyright, trade marks or other protected rights
- Creation of misleading or fraudulent QR codes
- Reselling or commercially passing on the Service without permission
- Reverse engineering, decompilation, disassembly
- Excessive automated use that impairs system performance
In the event of a breach the Provider reserves the right to block the QR codes concerned immediately and to terminate the account without notice.
7. Availability
The Provider aims for availability of 99.5% per month for paid plans (excluding scheduled maintenance windows).
Scheduled maintenance is announced at least 48 hours in advance where possible and carried out outside Central European business hours.
Uninterrupted or error-free availability cannot be guaranteed. Force majeure, DDoS attacks and outages at third parties (Stripe, DNS, upstream providers) are excluded.
8. Liability
8.1 Warranty
The Service is provided "as is". No fitness for a particular purpose is warranted.
8.2 Limitation of liability
- In cases of intent and gross negligence the Provider is liable without limitation.
- In cases of slight negligence the Provider is liable only for breaches of material contractual obligations, and the amount is limited to the foreseeable damage typical of this type of contract — but at most to the fees paid in the last 12 months.
- Liability for damage arising from injury to life, body or health remains unaffected.
- Liability under mandatory product liability law remains unaffected.
8.3 Third-party content
The Provider is not liable for content that users create or distribute through the Service.
9. Indemnity
You undertake to indemnify the Provider against all third-party claims arising from your use of the Service, your content or your breach of these Terms. This also covers reasonable legal defence costs.
10. Termination
10.1 Termination by the user
You can cancel paid subscriptions at any time in the customer area; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You can delete your account at any time in your profile; deletion takes effect immediately (section 10.3).
10.2 Termination by the Provider
The Provider may terminate the relationship extraordinarily and without notice if the user breaches these Terms, misuses the Service or is more than 30 days in arrears with payment.
10.3 Consequences
If you cancel a paid subscription, your account is moved back to the free plan at the end of the billing period; your QR codes and data are kept and can be downloaded at any time using the data export function in your profile. Features not included in the free plan are no longer available after that — clause 10.4 sets out an exception. If, on the other hand, you delete your account (or the Provider terminates extraordinarily under clause 10.2), your data is deleted immediately and permanently unless statutory retention obligations apply; dynamic QR codes stop working from that point. Please export any data you need before deleting your account.
10.4 Lifetime scan guarantee
If you have used a paid subscription for a cumulative total of at least 12 months, the dynamic QR codes you created up to that point remain permanently scannable and functional afterwards — even after a cancellation, a move to the free plan, or a downgrade to a smaller plan. This guarantee applies regardless of how many billing periods lie in between or were interrupted; what counts is the total number of days paid for.
The guarantee covers only the scanning operation of codes that already existed at that point (content, design, and an already configured custom subdomain remain as last saved). It does not create any right to expand the number of QR codes you can edit or newly create beyond your current subscription: codes that exceed your current plan's quota remain scannable, but can only be edited again once a sufficient subscription is reactivated.
11. Changes to these Terms
The Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms. Changes are announced by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you do not object within that period or continue to use the Service, the changes are deemed accepted, provided they do not materially alter the contractual relationship to your disadvantage. Material changes (in particular to prices or main obligations) only take effect with your express consent; if you refuse, either party may end the contractual relationship as at the end of the current billing period.
12. Data protection
Personal data is collected, processed and used in accordance with our privacy policy.
13. Governing law and place of jurisdiction
Governing law: Schweizer Recht unter Ausschluss des UN-Kaufrechts (CISG).
Place of jurisdiction: Bern, Schweiz, to the extent permitted by law.
Consumers resident in the EU may in addition bring proceedings at the courts of their place of residence, where the applicable consumer law requires this.
14. Severability
Should individual provisions of these Terms be invalid or unenforceable, this does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. The invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its economic purpose.
